Environmental aspects in logistics

Environmental protection: We have upgraded

Another green milestone: the logistics center in Mainhausen

The construction of the new logistics centre in Mainhausen combines all aspects of modern and sustainable building technology that enable the sustainable operation of a climate-efficient logistics building.

Reversible heat pumps were installed for heating and air conditioning, which can be used to both heat and cool the building.

NTS relies on self-sufficient energy generation by means of a PV system, which can currently produce up to 300 kWp primarily for its own consumption. The system is also equipped with a 68 kilowatt buffer storage tank. By expanding the system, the output can be increased by 50% to 600 kWp.

For the internal transport of goods, the company has invested in modern industrial trucks equipped with lithium-ion batteries to utilise the electricity generated by the PV system.

Five charging columns with 10 car charging points were installed outside. These can be used by both internal and external users to charge their vehicles with a maximum of 24 KWh.
For the bicycle mobility area, an additional 6 sockets for charging e-bikes have been installed on the bicycle stands. All charging points are supplied with power from the company’s own PV system.

Due to global warming, an irrigation system was installed in the outdoor area to ensure that the green areas, trees and shrubs are supplied with sufficient water. For this purpose, three wells were renovated on the site to ensure that the facility is supplied with water.
