Quality & Certifications

The ever-increasing demands placed on National Transport Service GmbH (NTS) – and consequently on its staff – mean that it is constantly necessary to review, develop and improve individual processes. In particular, the staff responsible for ensuring seamless interaction between people and the technology used ensure that customers are provided with a high standard of quality.

Every employee at NTS bears responsibility for the smooth running of the entire system — from dispatch and warehouse logistics right through to transport. Through ongoing training, clear process standards and the continuous improvement of our procedures, we ensure that consignments are handled reliably, on time and to a consistently high standard. We achieved a key milestone on this journey with our ISO 9001 certification back in 1997.

Since 2016, NTS has been certified to ISO 9001:2015, in accordance with the latest version of the standard, and has been successfully recertified every year since then — most recently in February 2026. In order to maintain the quality standard it has achieved, NTS voluntarily undergoes an annual audit of its processes by DEKRA.

In 2016, the company also successfully obtained IFS Logistics certification, which has been renewed annually ever since — most recently in March 2026 at the Mainhausen logistics site.

In order to further improve performance and quality standards, particularly in the area of international transport and the storage of goods, an application was submitted for Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) status. Following an inspection and audit of the sites by the Main Customs Office in Darmstadt, National-Transport-Service GmbH was granted AEO authorisation on 28 March 2024.

To raise awareness of customs procedures, regular training and further professional development sessions are demonstrably held here as well, delivered by external contractors.

In spring 2024, we also submitted a notification to the Hessian State Office for Health and Care regarding the operation of a medicines warehouse in accordance with Section 67 of the German Medicines Act (AMG). Following the successful completion of the audit on 10 September 2024 at our site in Mainhausen, we received approval to store medicines.

Following the commissioning of the hazardous substances logistics centre at the site in 63533 Mainhausen, an external hazardous substances officer has been carrying out regular checks on procedures and the hazardous substances in storage since October 2022. Accordingly, there is documented evidence that training sessions and audits on the handling of hazardous substances, covering both storage and transport, take place on a regular basis.

In the area of dangerous goods and hazardous substances, NTS has established additional compliance structures alongside external support: with specialist staff covering the areas of dangerous goods, major accident management and protection against sabotage, NTS ensures that the legal requirements under the GGVSEB, ADR and BImSchG are consistently met and regularly reviewed.

As part of the expansion, an application was submitted to the Regional Council in Darmstadt pursuant to Section 4 of the Federal Immission Control Act (BimSchG) to increase the storage quantities of hazardous substances and to permit the storage of additional storage classes at the logistics site in Mainhausen. The authorisation was granted on 2 July 2025.

With the completion of the expansion of the hazardous materials logistics centre in May 2026, the certified and approved capacity at the Mainhausen site has also increased significantly — further evidence of the ongoing investment in certified, officially approved infrastructure.

Through this seamless integration of certifications, regulatory approvals and specialist staff, NTS continuously invests in state-of-the-art standards and processes — from hazardous goods logistics and customs clearance to pharmaceutical storage.
