Capacity expansion

With the expansion of the hazardous materials logistics centre in Mainhausen completed on schedule, NTS has systematically increased its capacity. The extension was approved in accordance with Section 4 of the Federal Immission Control Act (BImSchG) — the decision by the Darmstadt Regional Council was issued on 2 July 2025. The new extension has been in operation since May 2026.

The expanded capacity enables the storage of larger quantities of hazardous substances across all relevant classes, as well as lithium-ion batteries at all states of charge — with 16,000 EPA storage bays and 7 loading bays, ensuring high handling capacity even with complex goods flows and demanding supply chain requirements.
